Parking Garage

Coogan Construction employees are working hard to complete the new parking garage, for the downtown transportation center, on the corner of Egan Drive and Main Street. The center will not only provide more parking, but it will also house a bus station complete with waiting rooms, public restrooms, lockers, vendors, and a police substation. Weather pending it could be completed by this summer.

I guess I just relearned that Juneau can only be reached by plane or boat. And it is the state capitol. I thought, for some reason, that you could get there by driving but then if you look at it with Google Earth, I don't think so. The mountains look like they are covered in snow. I guess the parking garage is for people already there who need a place to park.

For somebody down here in Ohio, Alaska is a whole different way of life that would take some getting used to.

Patty and I were on a list back in the late 1950s to get some free land in Alaska if we would take them up on a homestead. We were almost ready to go when Canada came along and gave us access to dairy farms that were abandoned and free if you lived in them for 5 years. We stopped thinking about building from scratch in Alaska to taking over complete farms with all the machinery in the barns. But then we had another baby and decided we'd stay in Ohio.

Looks like the fog is still hanging around.
My father in law worked on many pours in Alaska back in the late 50s up in Fairbanks. MB
